Birthdays – Candle Light Dinner
Her birthday is coming up, and in the past you may have
sent her flowers, taken her to dinner or even forgot about her birthday all
together. No matter what you did, a
few steps, a little money and a lot of time could go a long way to make her next
birthday the most memorable one. The
key to this, as well as the other ideas in this guide, is proper preparation.
Remember the six P’s your old coach used to stress, Proper Preparation
Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Plan
the evening accordingly and secretly, you want to have everything ready by the
time she gets home. If you have
children, arrange for a sitter, unplug the phones and turn the TV off.
Leave work early so you can go to the store to buy the food and goodies
for the evening. This is very
important, think of good excuses in advance.
She will drill you about why you are leaving work early, and why you
wanted to know the babysitter’s phone number.
We all get confused and say the first thing that comes to our minds when
we are drilled, so be ready.
If you have experience cooking you are a few steps ahead of
the game. If you have cooked a
little in the past but are no expert, it is OK you still have several options.
You can find recipes almost anywhere, the backs of boxes, on the Internet
or ask your Mom for one. You might
want to practice your dish at least once before your special evening to make
sure it turns out the way it is supposed to.
If you have no idea at all about cooking, then go to the freezer isle in
the grocery store and pick up a meal in a bag.
All you have to do with it is put it in the pan, heat and stir
occasionally. Grab a bag of salad and salad dressing and you have a meal,
just like that. Don’t forget
about wine and dessert, they are a necessity for the occasion.
There is a seventh P that your coach did not mention that
would help in this situation, Presentation.
This is the most important and critical detail of the evening.
If you burn the meal, forget the wine at the store, drop the desert on
the floor, she’ll still be just as happy and impressed as long as your
presentation is stellar. Presentation includes everything from background music, to
having the table set. For music
selection, play one of her favorite mellow CDs, or maybe Kenny G.
Eat with dim or no light at all, other then candle light.
Light as many candles as possible on or around your eating area.
You don’t have to eat at a table; you can eat on the floor by a
fireplace picnic style. Have the
plates, glasses and silverware in place and serve her meal, maybe even feed her.
Flowers will also help to set the romantic mood of the evening.
